Innovative Teaching Methodologies and English Communicative Competence: A Hybrid Approach to School Education Quality
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: the development of English communicative competence faces persistent limitations in school contexts where traditional, memorization-based methodologies prevail. Objective: to analyze the relationship between innovative teaching methodologies and English communicative competence in lower secondary education students. Method: a hybrid approach with a longitudinal quasi-experimental design was employed, using performance tests (pre-test and post-test), Likert-scale questionnaires, interviews, and participant observation with eighth-grade students from a public school in Panama. Results: significant improvements were observed in both oral and written expression, along with increased motivation, participation, and confidence in using the English language. Conclusion: innovative teaching methodologies, supported by active strategies and technology, comprehensively strengthen communicative competence in school contexts.
