Epistemic Model for Strengthening Research Competencies in University Teachers

Abstract
Introduction: the teaching role has shifted from a transmissive function to a reflective practice focused on knowledge production. Objective: to analyze the importance of teachers as scientific researchers within the Venezuelan educational context. Method: a qualitative documentary study with a critical-reflective approach was conducted, examining national legal frameworks and critical pedagogy theories. Results: findings indicate that teacher research strengthens professional autonomy, fosters pedagogical innovation, and enables context-based solutions to educational challenges. Conclusion: promoting a research culture among teachers is essential to enhance educational quality and support a transformative and socially responsive educational system.
